Kayangel’s 13th government sworn in

Sworn into office were: Edwin Chiokai, Governor; Harrington Olebuu, Speaker of KSL; Elmis Ruluked, Vice-Speaker of KSL; Francisca Skiwo, Floor Leader of KSL; and KSL members Tadao Ruluked, Niro Bandarii, Jack Ngiraked, Ricky Ngiraked, Richard Ngiraked, Roman Mongami, Keity Bandarii, Midas Ngiracheluolu, and Toshiwo Kelmal.President Tommy Remengesau, Jr., Vice-President Elias C. Chin, members of the Olbiil Era Kelulau, ministers, family members of the sworn-in officials, traditional chiefs of Kayangel State, and an entourage of friends crowded the Court House in Koror to witness the ceremony.President Remengesau and Chief Buik Redchor Mitsuo Delkuu gave brief congratulatory remarks to address newly installed state government officials.  Both said that the officials should continue to work towards an effective and productive government; and at the same time look into the possibility of downsizing the state government, and reducing operational costs.In an interview with Chiokai, he said that he and the Speaker Olebuu, and certainly all of the members of the Kayangel State Legislature will make every effort to run the government of Kayangel to provide cost-effective and needed services to people of Kayangel.  He added that they will definitely consider all suggestions and recommendations for a better government.Chiokai further added that he is grateful for the support the people of Kayangel, especially the residents of the state, have bestowed on the government in the last two years.  Moreover, he said he is deeply honored that the people have voted and chosen to keep him and the legislative in office.“I thank the people of the Kayangel,” Chiokai said, “and I and members of the legislature will work closely together to ensure that the people’s trust is not forsaken.”
