Legislature urged to conduct background check on judicial nominee

Greg Cruz, Taotao Tano president and Toka Hao Enterprise researcher and investigator, said the confirmation of Inos should be put on hold.

“Our investigation efforts uncovered that Perry B. Inos is a resident agent, board of director and a shareholder for Resources Management International Corp., which is closely tied to the Fitial administration, [and whose] other directors [are] Jaoquin Manglona  and Antonio Rasiang,” Cruz said.

Toka Hao Enterprise, he added, also uncovered that Inos has been involved in expedited sole sourced construction contracts from the Commonwealth Ports Authority and the Lower Base Transfer Station.

“We believe that Perry B. Inos’ involvement on these sole sourced contracts should be seriously taken into consideration and investigated before his nomination is confirmed,” Cruz said.

There should be a thorough background check on all individuals appointed to public offices to ensure that these individuals have no conflicts of interest, he added.

There should be investigation even if the nominee is local, popular, a relative, a constituent, or a political ally, Cruz said.

“The people must know and understand who we are dealing in order to achieve and  ensure integrity, and transparency in our government sector,” he added.

He noted that David Burger, who was appointed to the Public Utilities Corp., is affiliated with Commonwealth Industrial Supply Co. Inc. a private contractor currently involved in the rehabilitation efforts at Power Plant 1.

The company has a questionable sole source contract, Cruz added.
