5 teams to play in Sufa Softball fundraiser

Sufa Vice President Joe Salas said they are holding the tournament to raise fund for the travel costs of NMI’s Sufa Softball team that will compete in the 4th Annual Labor Day Softball Tournament in Las Vegas from August 27 to Sept. 4.

Since they announced it last month, teams have started registering to play in the tournament, Salas said.

Those who signed in are Jerry Ayuyu’s Brotherhoods, Ed and Jovie Flores’ team, Bernard Cabrera and family’s team,              Brian Adebai’s team and Che’lus.

Roque Celis and Mike Borja-will be the tournament directors of the week-long league.

The NMI’s Sufa Team, Salas added will be accompanied by his excellency Bishop Thomas Camacho when they leave for Las Vegas for the tournament.

“This is a huge event and I call-up the community to participate and spend sometime with our bishop. It’s an opportunity to chat and see him personally from off duty,” Salas said in an e-mail.

 The game tomorrow will be from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Miguel “Tan-Ge” Basa Pangelinan Sofball Field, the game on July 12 at 9:00 a.m to  4:00 p.m, will be held at the Capitol Hill Softball Field, the July 13 game at 9:00 a.m.-to 4:30 p.m will be at the Tan-Ge Ballfield again.

The Sufa Softball, Salas said aims to have a minimum of 10 and maximum 12 teams to move ahead.
