Friday water outage on Capital Hill

The water division manager of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp., Mariano R. Iglecias, said the Water Task Force contractor Maeda Pacific Corp. will replace the old 12-inch water valves that connect to residential and water tank pipelines.

This is part of Maeda’s rehabilitation project for the water reservoir and pipeline system on Capital Hill.

Iglecias said the water outage will be experienced from 9 a.m. on Friday to 6 a.m. on Saturday.

“Water service will return to normal on Saturday after 6 a.m.,” he said.

According to Iglecias, the contractor will require the complete shutdown of the water system.

Chalan Galaide, Capital Hill, Wireless Ridge, Talafofo, Tapochau, and I Denni will be affected by the water outage.

Iglecias said replacing the valves will allow for greater flow of water supply to the affected areas.

Aside from the valve replacement work, Maeda Pacific is also conducting repairs on the concrete water tank and pipelines on Capital Hill.

The project is funded in part by the U.S. Department of the Interior, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Northern Marianas Housing Corp.

The water task force is the main agency in charge of the rehabilitation project.
