Around the Islands

The 10 visiting students shared great experiences on Saipan and are the first ever Russian student study group to come to the CNMI to study English and other courses.

This is a major step for the development of education-tourism for the islands, according to LISS Director Wayne Pangelinan.

Along with the students came a Russian English teacher and a school official to see how well the CNMI can cater to Russian students when traveling abroad for studies.

“LISS is expanding our reach into other markets aside from the traditional Japanese and Korean markets but also placing some emphasis on the growing China, Russia, and India markets,” Pangelinan said.

The visit of the Russia student group would not have been possible without the commitment and support from the Saipan Grand Hotel and Pacific Development Inc., Pangelinan said. “We are pleased with the outcome and the students expressed their satisfaction and gratitude to all supporters and new friends they have made on island. We hope to continue working with partners to developing more of these types of programs,” he added.
