Rotary Club caging sticks to 18 Under

Basketball Association of Northern Mariana Islands headed by Elias Rangamar held a mandatory meeting at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym at 5 p.m., yesterday and set up the opening of the tournament on Aug. 4.

They also discussed the team requirements, entry fees, and possible formation of the coaches association.

The team coaches who attended the meeting are Jose Tumaquip of G-Star, Omar Acoste of Suns and Vince Teregeyo of Rollers.

Rangamar said there are actually many children on the island who are eligible and are interested to join the Rotary Club caging but they have decided not to pursue the 14-and-under division because the coaches may no longer be able to handle two teams.

In the ground rules, the games will start 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday and will be in accordance with international rules.

The teams will go in a round-robin format with every team playing each other once. The playoff series will be in an eight-team single elimination round.

Among the teams that joined last year were Sonics, Sixers and the defending champion, Junior Nationals.

The Rotary caging will be using the old 20-minute half game rules with bonus at eight fouls per half.
