Olinka C. Chaudhry, the Saipan mayor’s youth program coordinator, said yesterday that they have already prepared the itinerary and accommodation for the visiting students.
The K.S.K.K group from different schools in Tokyo will arrive at 3:00 p.m. at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport, she said.
The group will stay on island with their host families until Aug. 1.
Olinka said the mayor’s office was able to get 11 sponsors, and most of them are volunteering for the first time.
Upon their arrival, the K.S.K.K. students will be transported from the airport to the mayor’s office in San Antonio.
On Saturday, their local sponsors are encouraged to bring the students to the Santa Lourdes Shrine, Mount Tapochao and the Botanical Garden.
All students will be at their host families on Sunday.
Olinka said the group will have more activities on Monday as they will visit the CNMI Museum of History & Culture, the governor’s office, Suicide Cliff, Banzai Cliff, the Last Command Post, Bird Island, the Garapan Central Park and the airport bunker.
On Tuesday, they will spend the whole day on Managaha and will visit American Memorial Park and other tourist and historical sites on island on the following day before heading to Garapan shopping district.
The group will be treated to a “sayonara party” at Hopwood Junior High School on Thursday night and they will head back to Japan on Friday afternoon.
