The Predator or Prey that will be held at the World Resort on Aug. 2 is an add-on project of the Gorilla Warfare Productions, one many teams that had been trying to promote and level up MMA in the CNMI.
Incorporated just three months ago, the Gorilla Warfare was organized by a group of MMA artists and promoters on the island and in the U.S.
However, the Predator or Prey features fighters from the island’s different MMA camps—Trench Tech—PurebredSaipan, Marianas Elite, Predator Combat Gym and the Gorilla Warfare Productions.
A team of six fighters from Trench Tech—PurebredSaipan will be participating in the Predator or Prey. They are Cuki Alvarez, Giovanni Sablan, Darrel Salas, Fasi Jesse and Ronaldo Chisato.
Alvarez in an interview on Friday said that although there are competitors coming on board, the Trench Tech that had been promoting MMA events on Saipan since 2005 wants to see all MMA groups co-exist with each other since there is growing interest among young men in the CNMI in the said sport.
In its desire to train more local MMA fighters on Saipan, the Gorilla Warfare for its part plans to bring here high caliber fighters.
The first one they invited here is Kimo Leopoldo the first Pacific Islander who became famous in UFC. He will be the special guest in Predator or Prey.
