Water outage
(CUC) — The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. and the CNMI Water Task Force announce a water outage scheduled for the Chalan Galaide, Capital Hill, Wireless Ridge, Talafofo, Tapochau, Agag and I Denni areas today, July 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The contractor, Maeda Pacific Corp., is scheduled to install new pipelines at the Capital Hill one million gallon reservoir. Once the required installation work is completed, it would enable greater flow into the reservoir and improve water quantity and quality.
As a result of this outage, water hours for these areas will be from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Normal water services will resume the following day.
Residents are encouraged to practice strict water conservation. Rainwater catchment systems/water tanks should be cleaned and float valves installed or replaced to ensure that water does not overflow.

LISS offers local students trial basis
LISS — Ladera International School of Saipan, through its first summer session, highlighted activities conforming to its academic standards offering summer classes from 1st to 10th grades.
On Aug. 4, the regular school year begins and LISS is offering a trial basis for local students and families to see what the school offers.
From Aug. 4 to 29, LISS will open six slots per grade level from K-4 to 10th grade to the local residents on island.
“This trial basis will provide local students an opportunity to experience LISS’ regular school year program during the time they are still on vacation,” said LISS director Wayne Pangelinan.
He added, “The success of our summer programs prompted us to offer more opportunities during the long summer breaks from the public schools. We feel that having alternative learning activities for students during the breaks will only enhance their academics when returning to their schools.”
