CNMI vs Philippines in Asia-Pacific Big League

This came after the Guam All Stars team was defeated by the Philippines Sunday night, sending the neighboring island out of the competion.

CNMI, the defending champion of the Asia-Pacific Meet beat Guam during the tournament’s opening on Saturday.

The CNMI and the Philippines All Stars team will play today in a no-bearing game before they will meet for the championship on Friday.

During last Sunday’s game, Philippines held Guam to seven runs in the final inning to beat them, 8-7.

Ivan Gabay hit an RBI sending right fielder Angelo Esguerra home to the winning run on top of the seventh inning.

The Philippine All Stars held Guam to scoreless first and second innings.

After scoring in the third inning, Guam rallied to score five runs in the sixth inning to bring the game to 7-6.

Starting pitcher Jose Bernardo Castro was relieved by Sebastian Thomas Uichico who held Guam scoreless to the fifth inning.

Castro returned in the bottom of the seventh for winning pitches during the decisive run.

He struck three and limit Guam to one run.

Antonio Brias hit two RBIs and had one single  sending Jeromne Bacarisas and Paolo Gerardo Mallari home to score runs.

The CNMI beat Guam on Saturday, 5-2, with Jesus Iguel  diving for the ball to send Guam’s Nathan Lujan out.

CNNI shut the Guam out in the six innings before the neighbor island struggled in the seventh.

CNMI’s Vicente Camacho went 2-for-3. He doubled and had RBI single allowing Shane Yamada to score a run.

Vicente Deleon Guerrero went 1-for-2, hit a triple and had RBI single to bring Ryan Ada home and scored a run.

Nick San Nicolas mounted a winning pitch striking three, allowed five hits and gave up two runs.
