The teachers who received certificates are Jeremiah Tem from Aimellik Elementary School; Vincente Pua, Aimellik; Natalie C. Delemel, Airai Elementary School; Aileen Mikel, Airai; Calista Rafael, Angaur; Frienda Wasisang, Ibobang; Felisa Tmag, Koror; Glenda Masayos, Koror; Abba Ngiruos, Koror; Celeste Sumor, Meyuns; Rita Kuchad, Meyuns; Merong Abraham, Meyuns; Nancy Sabino, Meyuns; Delphina Sumor, Meyuns; Florencia John, Meyuns; Cerilla Michael, George B. Harris Elementary School; Darcy Iskawa, Ngarraard Elementary School; Doris Wachi, Ngarraard.The teachers who don’t have basic teaching experience and who doesn’t have an Education degree are required to complete 150 hours of Teachers’ Academy Courses to become effective teachers.The participants completed 30 hours of Introduction to Teaching course, 30 hours of classroom management, 30 hours Lesson plan/ presentation, 30 hours classroom assessment and 30 hours of teaching methodologist or strategies.The participants completed the course under the supervision of Instructor Jemmy Blelai.The training started on June 23 and ended on July 25, 2008.Sherman Daniel, Associate Dean, School of Technical Education, PCC, said that the training provides credentials to the teachers in order for them to become effective teachers.“It adds to their credentials. Some of them are new in the field of teaching, some have been teaching for four years and this training serve as a refresher for them to improve their skills. This training provides them new techniques or strategies so that they will continue to improve their selves,”Daniel said in an interview during the ceremony on Friday.The school principals of the Aimelliik, Ngarraard, Meyuns, Koror and George Harris, Airai were present during the awarding of the certificates.
