The ceremony was supposed to be held at the Guma Hustisia at 2 p.m. with Justice Alexandro C. Castro administering the oath of office.
But the ceremony was moved to the DPS headquarters due to the power outage at the judicial building.
“My task is to take care of the entire DPS force and ensure public safety in the CNMI,” Tudela told the Variety after he was sworn in.
His appointment as DPS Commissioner was confirmed by the Senate on Friday.
Tudela earlier said he would continue with some of the programs implemented by former DPS Commissioner Clyde K. Norita.
He said his programs will not be centered on Saipan alone, but will also extend to Tinian and Rota.
He disclosed that his top priorities will be to address the department’s manpower shortage following the deployment of some officers who are with the Army Reserve to the Middle East.
Tudela, who served as DPS commissioner during the Babauta administration from 2002 to 006, was appointed by Gov. Benigno R. Fitial to replace Norita early this month.
