Earthquake hits Palau

NWS said that Palau residents felt the shock at 11:39 p.m. on August 14.It wasn’t a strong quake and no damage was ever reported, a personnel from the NWS said on Friday.The shock lasted only for two seconds.The personnel said the quake originated from Oahu, Hawaii.The quake happened at 1:01 a.m., 18 miles off the Leeward Coast of Oahu.It registered 3.0 magnitude and was felt by residents as far away as Kaneohe, a report from Star Bulletin stated.The report stated that three quakes with 3.0 magnitudes were recorded within the last week.A 4.8-magnitude quake on Sept. 5, 1989 was the largest recorded on or near Oahu in the past 50 years, the report added.Palau aside from the earthquake, was also experiencing heavy rains during the weekend.
