CUC awards $12.5M contracts to vendors

Rep. Tina Sablan, Ind.-Saipan, asked the Office of the Public Auditor’s representative during their meeting yesterday afternoon to examine the contracts.

The contracts date back to 2000 and were worth millions of dollars.

CUC contracts signed during the Fitial administration covered only 2006 and 2007 which totaled $12.5 million.

The vendors were contracted for supplies or services for  water, power and sewer.

Majority of them, however, involved services and supplies for the power generation division.

Some were hired for their professional services such as former CUC comptrollers Rufo Mafnas and Ed Williams for their accounting and financial services; G.A.A Delgado’s $200,000 sole-source consulting services contract provided to the executive director; Williams Consulting-$36,000; and Quantum Pacific-$250,000.
