Ian Catlett submitted recently his resignation letter to the House leadership.
Earlier, Reyes said the LB’s deadline for accepting applications for the position of House legal counsel was on Aug. 15.
Reyes said the extension is based on Catlett’s last day in office which will be Sept. 2, Tuesday.
The extension, she added, will also allow for the submission of more applications that will be reviewed by the human resources committee created by the LB director’s office.
The bureau so far has received four applications, Reyes said.
She added it will take about one or two weeks for the human resources committee to release its recommendation to LB Director Jack Omar.
An applicant must have a law degree from an institution accredited by the American Bar Association; must be a member of good standing of a bar in any U.S. jurisdiction; and should have a minimum two years legislative experience.
The bureau started accepting applications for the position of House legal counsel on July 29.
