It has been 55 years already since Wilson, first came to Palau.In 1953, Wilson was in Palau to survey for Tuna Company in Okinawa and he fell in love with Palau.In 1961, he returned to the country to start working for the government as Chief for the Marine Resources under Trust Territory government.While in Palau, Wilson built the first Palau Shipyard in Malakal that still exist till now. He also set-up Vancamp, an Okinawa-based Fishing Company in Palau.In January 1971, he invited the Skindiver magazine to film here in Palau. Wilson, also set up the first dive shop for the government of Palau.Wilson also organized and invited movie stars to come and film in Palau.The movie titled “Hell in Pacific” starred actor Lee Marvin.Wilson’s three sons, Peter R. Wilson, Marc “Buik” Wilson, and Derek “LeeBoo” Wilson were born in Palau. They attended Gospel Kindergarten and then Koror Elementary School.Wilson’s sons brought him to Palau to celebrate their father’s 80th Birthday.
