IT&E Destroyers rally past Ideal Signs Rustlers, 7-6

THE Rendezvous IT&E Destroyers continue to hang on to the top spot of the Tuesday division in the 2023 SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League after pulling a mid-game comeback to defeat the Black 8 Ideal Signs Rustlers, 7-6, and improve their record to 53 wins and 38 losses on Tuesday at the Black 8 Pool Bar.

The opening Singles 8-Ball match saw both teams exchanging blows. The Destroyers’ Rey Pinangay drew first blood, but was answered by the Rustlers’ Robert Sanciangco and Mark Butac while the Destroyers’ Rolly Villanueva snatched the final game for a 2-2 split.

In the Partners 8-Ball match, the Rustlers grasped control as they worked as a team to notch a two-win sweep. However, the Destroyers retaliated with a 3-1 run in the second Singles 8-Ball match to put the game in its second deadlock, 5-5.

After another split, it all came down to the third and final Partners 8-Ball match during which Villanueva and Pinangay secured the win for the Destroyers after outshooting the Rustlers’ Sanciangco and Jerry Tiu, 7-6.

Winners, too

Joining the winner’s circle were the Rendezvous Warriors who defeated the Black 8 Shooters, 8-5; and the True North Lucky 8 Shooter who edged Black 8 Rack N Roll, 7-6.
