THE members and escorts of the Saipan Awaodori team met with Deputy Chief of Mission Raymond Greene at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, Japan.

According to Saipan Awaodori founder and Kinpachi Restaurant president Misako Kamata, they were invited to perform at the U.S. Embassy, which also held its own Summer Festival at the Mitsui Compound in Tokyo.

“This was a great opportunity for the team to be recognized,” Kamata said, adding that Awaodori team members Cassidy Thomphson Wabol, Leon Wabol, Jeafanie Tibong, Marcela Heben, Eljan Tibong and Coddie Forbes each received a “Certificate of Gratitude” for their performance.

The Saipan Awaodori team are expected to be back on Saipan on Aug. 30, after seven weeks of participating in various festivals in Japan.

These included the Shirogane Awaodori Festival, the Ujiie Awaodori Festival, the  Kitamachi Awaodori Festival, the Higashi Rinkan Summer Wow Festival, the Koenji Furedori, the Sajiki Festival, and the Tokyo Koenji Awaodori Festival.
