Man accused of stabbing wife with screwdriver, assaulting two children

BILL M. Manglona, a resident of Rota, is accused of stabbing his wife with a screwdriver, and assaulting two of their children who are 1 and 7 years old.

Manglona, 29, was arrested by the Rota Department of Public Safety and charged with assault, assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, disturbing the peace, and child abuse.

The defendant appeared on Monday before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho who imposed a $25,000 cash bail.

At the hearing, the court appointed Assistant Public Defender Emily Thomsen to represent the accused while Assistant Attorney General Frances Demapan appeared for the government.

Manglona was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections and was ordered to return to court for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. and for an arraignment on Dec. 19 at 9 a.m.

According to the complaint against Manglona, his wife on Dec. 2 went to DPS Rota central to file a domestic violence complaint.

She said her husband, Bill Manglona, had stabbed her multiple times with a screwdriver and that she feared for her life.

She said she ran away from their home at 4 a.m. and waited for daylight to seek police assistance.

She told police that on Dec. 1, Manglona flipped her 7-year-old son by the feet which caused her son to hit his head on the ground. She added that Manglona also punched her 1-year-old daughter on her left rib area.

She said Manglona on the same day hit her all over her body, causing bruises.

On Nov. 30, the victim told police that Manglona stabbed her multiple times with a black screwdriver “including one stab on her head.” She said he only stopped when he saw her head start to bleed.

She said Manglona had been threatening to murder her since Nov. 26 and had battered her since Nov. 30, 2014.
