Off The Beaten Path to host golf tourney for CHC volunteers

A non-profit organization,  Off The Beaten Path has been holding fundraising events, the proceeds of which are then donated to community organizations.

OBP public relations officer, Francine Sablan announced last Wednesday that they will host a fundraising golf tournament on Oct. 18 at the Laolao Bay Golf Course in Kagman.

Sablan said they want to help the CHC volunteers  with their ongoing efforts to raise funds for the purchase of a hyperbaric chamber and a multi-slice CT scanner for diabetic patients and diving accident victims.

The hyperbaric chamber is a decompression chamber for divers who “have the bends” and is also extremely beneficial in the treatment of diabetic wounds to prevent amputation. Moreover, it gives stroke victims the chance to recover quicker.

The multi-slice CT scanner gives 3D imaging of a patient’s body to allow the doctor to find the source of illness. This machine will reduce off-island referrals for diagnosis.

The volunteers need to raise at least $400,000 to buy the equipment.
