The project constitutes that improving the road the leads into Airai after the turn to the airport road.
The paved road is up to Surangel’s warehouse.Phase IV of the improvement project includes the rest of the road up to the Airai tennis courts.The Republic of China funded the project and was contracted out ti Hanpa Construction.The project commenced in December.Airai Governor Vicky Kanai welcomed the guests and thanked all those who attended the ceremony.Minister Resources and Development Fritz Koshiba spoke on behalf of President Remengesau, thanking the government of Taiwan for their continued support of many economic improvement projects throughout various states in Palau.Koshiba also thanked the governments of Japan and the United States as well.The Japan government was represented by Charge d’ Affaires Kunio Nakamura and United States charge d’ affaires Mark Bezner.Speaker of the 5th Olbiil era Ngerchumelbai Meluat Telei gave the closing remarks, and he thanked governments of Taiwan, the US and Japan, saying that hopes that with the improved roads and the new US embassy building, Airai will open its doors to more economic developments in the near future.
