Kiyoshi Nomura and Tadashi Monjo trained firefighters from Fire Division, airport, mechanics and Airport Rescue Fire Fighting personnel for the use of the 1980 model Ladder truck.
Miki Sigen Company Limited through the efforts of Palau Japan Cultural Exchange Association donated the Ladder truck.Aside from Nomura and Monjo, Kaoru Miyauchi, Yoshiharu Ogishi and Hirohumi Yamamoto also came to assist the training and the installation of the new incinerator at the Belau National hospital.Miki Sigen Company also donated garbage truck to the hospital.BPS Director Norvert Yano said that the Ladder truck has a water pump and miniature power pump engine but the truck will be strictly used for the ladder purposes and use of the pump is a last resort.“We have two pumps right now so the only way to use the truck is the ladder for tall building,” the Director said.Yano said it’s dangerous to use the Ladder truck that’s why the personnel need to undergo training before they could operate it.Yano thanked Minister of Health Victor Yano and his wife Jennifer Yano and Mr. Kawauchi for their efforts in making the donation possible.Yano also thanked Dr. Minoru Ueki, a member of Palau Japan Cultural Exchange Association for his assistance during the training where he played the role of a translator. The Ladder truck was turned over to the BPS Fire Division on Tuesday.
