CPA to issue new RFP for airport generator

The winning bidder, however, GPPC Inc., will not automatically get the contract because the ports authority will issue a new request for proposals that will indicate major modifications, according to CPA acting Executive Director Lee Cabrera.

“What we’re going to do is expand the RFP — the reason why CPA will disregard the first RFP,” he told Variety on Monday.

Under the previous RFP, the winning contractor was responsible for the procurement and installation of the generator which will cost approximately $2.1 million, including accessories, feeders and cost of installation.

Cabrera said the modified RFP will still focus on the generator but will now include the airport tower control, the aircraft rescue and firefighting unit and the emergency power grid in the airport area.

The issuance of a new RFP will take approximately three months, he added.

“And because we will be including a lot of areas in the scope of work and requirements (for the contractor) we’re looking for additional funds,” he said.

The $2.1 million generator project will be funded by the Federal Aviation Administration.

CPA earlier solicited proposals for the design and installation of the airport’s new power generator.

CPA has two generators but they are broken and need to be repaired.
