Vivid Pinky tipped over Team Blue, 3-2, in a futsal match that was described by a football official as a “fierce competition.”
A visiting futsal team from Japan, Vivid Pinky came in loaded with shots at the games.
In the words of Michael Thomas, director of the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association, “Vivid Pinky went on to win first place after a day of fierce competition.”
The finals match was a neck-and-neck, as Team Blue kept the score tied at 1-1, then 2-2, until Vivid Pinky crafted a powerful shot to the back of the net in the final minutes of the game.
Team Blue’s goalkeeper, Dr. Dick Brostrom, made a good performance with multiple shots blocked off of his chest, feet and arms.
Team Yellow landed on third spot in the tournament.
Team Blue members include Michael Thomas, Jack Thoensaket, Jessie Phonsutjit, Bradley Brostrom, and Dan Westphal.
Players from Team yellow were Nick Swaim, Steve McKagan, Joe Miller, Greg Elliot, Rob Jordan, and Lucas Knecht.
There were a total of six teams that participated in the event.
The futsal tournament is organized by NMIFA and sponsored by Wild Bills.
Wild Bills shouldered the prizes of the team winners.
The futsal tournament is set to kick-off the upcoming men’s football league this Fall, Thomas said.
He added that the Men’s league is set to launch its games on September 14.
