CAT 133-24 Renovates Koror Elementary School Restrooms

The project at Koror is the second of four elementary school restroom projects the CAT will complete over the next year.  The other projects include the rehabilitation of restrooms at Harris Elementary as well as the construction of a new bathroom facility at Angaur Elementary.   Material for all of the projects was purchased through a Humanitarian and Civic Action (HCA) grant from the United States Pacific Command.

The CAT crew, lead by Katzenberger and Markowski, removed and replaced nearly everything in the facilities, including the wall and floor tile, sinks, toilets, and other fixtures.  A few other minor repairs and a fresh coat of paint completed the renovation.   They spent a total time of just over five weeks on the projectPrincipal Andrew Tabelual and students from Koror Elementary showed their gratitude by presenting a letter of appreciation to the Seabee-apprentice crew.   Principal Tabelual stated that he could not express enough thanks for the hard work the crew put in, and that it set an important example for his students.  “This has shown these kids how important it is to help out when you go somewhere else,” said Tabelual. The ceremony was not a big or elaborate production, but it’s meaning was huge to the team who worked on the project.  Seeing the appreciation of the children was very gratifying for the team, “it made us remember why it is we do what we do,” said Katzenberger.
