“Methamphetamine: The National Summit to Promote Public Health, Partnerships, and Safety for Critically Affected Populations” will be held from Nov. 16 to 19 at the Hilton Washington in Washington, DC.
The summit is for community level professionals who will work together in developing implementation strategies to reduce the availability and use of methamphetamine in critically affected populations nationwide.
Public Health Secretary Joseph Kevin Villagomez will be the leader of the CNMI action team that will participate in the summit.
The U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will pay for the participation of six representatives from the CNMI.
Each participating action team must develop an action plan that incorporates evidence-based and culturally appropriate practices and policies to respond to methamphetamine use in their communities.
The federal partners for this event are the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Health Resources and Services Administration, Office of Minority Health, Office on Women’s Abuse, Indian Health Service, National Institute on Drug Abuse and several components of the Department of Justice.
