Japanese Delegation visit Palau and donated wheelchair

At the same time the group also donated one wheelchair to the Special Education Program.

The group headed by Chairman Katsuma Shusaku and Sub-chairman Tsuchitana Etsuko visited the Special Education Program office yesterday and handed the wheelchair to the Program Coordinator Helen Sengebau.Sengebau thanked the group for visiting the county and for donating a wheelchair.“We really appreciate their thoughts of helping the children with disability in Palau,”she said in an interview yesterday.Sengebau said the wheelchair would be used by one of the student who belongs to the special class program.She said there are five of them who belong to the special class program.She said they got support from Japan International Cooperative Agency and the agency has been helping them for four years now.The Nihon Izokukai delegates arrived Sunday night and will be leaving on October 31.The group through Masao Kikuchi who acted as the group’s interpreter said that every year they came to Palau to conduct memorial services for their dead family members who died during the war and to strengthen their friendship with the Palauan people.The group said they have been here more than ten times already. The group will visit Angaur today and Peleliu State.They will also donate school supplies to Peleliu Elementary School.Kikuchi said Angaur and Peleliu are memorable to the group because it was where their families lived before the war.He said some of the delegate’s fathers were killed during the war.
