Part of his mission as development manager, Mordaunt has visited other islands nations, which are members of the Oceania region, to run coaching clinics, promote the sport in schools, assist in developing clubs, and coaching junior and higher performance players. His tour brought him to Norfolk Island, Fiji, Tuvalu, and up to CNMI.
After his visit to our neighbor islands of the Coomon Wealth of the Northern Marianas, Mordaunt is in Palau.In an interview about the main purpose of visit to Palau, he simply stated, “I will be doing some roadshows to try and create better skills for potential players – particularly potential players in grade schools.”Mordaunt has begun coaching clinics as well as tours to different elementary schools around in Palau.Since many people are new to the sport of badminton, Mordaunt has included in his schedules time for lectures on basics of the game – specifically on the rules and regulations of the game as a sport.Mr. Mordaunt has met with members of Palau Badminton Association – organized and run by Mr. and Mrs. Eric Whipps – on Tuesday night at the Palau High School gym to demonstrate and continue his mission on teaching the game. He showed the group how to discard “bad habits” that players develop through the years. He demostrated drills that players could use to hone their skills before a match. He also displayed his skills singles and doubles matches, when he played with some members of the association. Others members watched and cheered.Mordaunt will be own his way to his next destined island as soon as his visit in Palau is completed.
