NSA organizes without a hitch

Prior to the compromise, members of the NSA were evenly divided into two factions – each supporting differing nominations of officers.  However, during their first day of session on October 10, the members settled their differences and organized.

The following members of the NSA were elected to fill the following offices:  Kalistus Wasisang, Speaker; Immanuel Maldangsang, Vice-speaker; and Hayes Ngiratreged, Floor Leader.Members of the NSA formed the following committees: Committee on Ways and Means; Committee on Resources and Development; Committee on Capital Improvement Projects; Committee on Youth Affairs; Committee on Tourism; and Committee on Education and Health.The members voted and assigned chaimanship to the following members:  Abraham Osima, Committee on Ways and Means; Obak er a Iyebukel Lorenzo Ngiramolau, Committee on Resources and Development; Iyechad er a Butelbai Mathias Erbai, Committee on Capital Improvement Projects; Ngirablau Sambal, Committee on Youth Affairs; Dorothy Ueda, Committee on Tourism; and James Skilang Ultirakl, Committee on Education and Health.“Some of us were appointed – the traditional chiefs – and others were elected,” said Erbai, one of the traditional members of the NSA. “However our differences may be, we have a single goal. We are obligated to work as single unit for the people of Ngarchelong and the compromise is a clear definition of this goal.”Citizens of the state applaud the organization of the NSA.  Many have indicated that they are pleased with the NSA.“I am glad that NSA has organized,” said a citizen. “I hope the NSA continues to work in a courteous, respectful, and peaceful manner as it has shown during its organization.”
