Ricardo Bausoch, DRT chief said that the crackdown is to ensure that business establishments pay their taxes in a timely fashion.
He said that licenses of companies or taxpayers who fail to file and pay taxes or enter into acceptable installment payment agreements will be revoked.Bausoch said that there were four companies whose licenses were suspended but were immediately reinstated after making payments.Bausoch added that citations were also given to six establishments for failure to use cash registers.Bausoch said that establishments which have fallen behind from the deadline are given notices of the amounts that are past due.He said the division usually allows establishments to make payment arrangements to avoid taking the matter in court.Bausoch said the monitoring is conducted daily by the division to ensure that companies and taxpayers comply with the law.Bausoch also reminded establishments about the deadline of third quarter taxes payments.He said that establishments who will make payments after October 30 will be penalized.At the same time, Bausoch encourages employers of houseboys, farmers, fishermen and domestic helpers to register their employees and pay the corresponding taxes.
