Oceania Rado help draft anti-doping regulations

Natanya Potoi, Administrator of the Oceania RADO is in Palau to meet with the Palau National Olympic Committee (PNOC) and sports federation to discuss the anti-doping regulation.

Palau is a signatory to the UNESCO’s anti-doping program.Potoi said sport federations can implement this regulation within the organization.The proposed regulation stated that every federation should include in their Constitution the anti-doping rules.It added that each federation is bound by the anti-doping rules and that their athletes should submit to annual doping control testing.Under the proposed rules, federations are also authorized to conduct unannounced out-of competition testing on the athletes.Rhe aim of UNESCO’s anti-doping program is to ensure that all athletes enjoy the right to compete in a clean, honest and equitable environment.The organization has a list of prohibited drugs that are banned for athletes’ use.Potoi said it is important that federations are on alert on use of performance enhancing drugs because it also poses a risk to the athletes’ health.
