Elias Rangamar, president of the Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Islands and league coordinator, yesterday said they have not yet finalized the dates for the playoffs because five basketball teams in the league are yet to pay the full amount of their entry fee in the league.
Rangamar declined to say the names of these teams, but said he is giving them until tomorrow to settle their payments, or BANMI will not allow them to participate in the playoffs.
Rangmar said each team must settle the fee of $100.
Only those teams who have paid in full will be permitted to compete in the playoffs, he added.
Friday last week was the last day of make up games of the Rotary Club Youth Basketball League, where Junior Nationals and G-Stars pit against each other.
Currently, the top three teams expected to enter the playoffs are Sixers, Junior Nationals, and Rollers I. However, no official words yet from BANMI as to whether these teams have paid their dues in the league.
The other member-teams of this year’s Rotary youth caging league are Sonics, Rollers II, Kontenders, Suns, and Chalan Kanoa Saints.
