Bureau of Public Safety Director Norvert H. Yano identified the victim as Hideo Yamamura.
Yano said the victim was pronounced dead at 11:50 a.m. on Friday by attending physician Dr. Ken-Hing Tan.Horizon gathered that the victim was one of the tourists from Japan who came here to attend the annual PMG Shake Tour friendship party which was held on Thursday night at the Palasia hotel.Director Yano said that the victim and his wife went on swimming and snorkeling at the wonder channel which is close to Inoki Island on Friday morning.The victim and his wife and some companions arrived at the said location at 10 a.m.They were supposed to go back to the boat after ten to fifteen minutes. When the victim failed to come back, his wife, who is a nurse, checked on him and found him drowning.Assistance was called via radio and the medic attendant arrived at 11:35 am.CPR was performed on the victim while he was transported via a boat to the hospital.The victim arrived 11:48 am at the hospital and he was pronounced dead after two minutes.Yano said the victim’s body was transported to Japan yesterday morning.The Director also said that the victim underwent a gastric cancer surgery two years ago.
