HOPWOOD Middle School continues to rule the girls middle school division of the NMIFA-PSS Interscholastic Soccer League after collecting their fourth win by outplaying Tanapag Middle School, 7-2, on Tuesday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
HMS had a dominant performance from start to finish. Just two minutes after the whistle blew, HMS broke through TMS’ line of defense, setting up Yelynn Ha for the finish.
Three minutes later, Kaye Costales connected the second shot for HMS to extend their lead.
TMS tried to step up defensively but could not prevent Ha from draining her second shot of the day that gave Hopwood a 3-0 advantage.
TMS finally broke the silence two minutes later thanks to Xyriel Pascual who cut HMS’ lead, 1-3.
HMS, however, still controlled the pace in the second half with Alyssa Borlongan scoring back-to-back goals followed by Ha’s third goal for a commanding 6-1 lead.
TMS’s Sheryl Vinuya squeezed in a shot at the 45th minute mark but HMS’ Borlongan replied four minutes later for the hat-trick and the icing on the cake, 7-2.

Moving up the leaderboard was Saipan International School which blanked Chacha Oceanview Middle School, 4-0.
SIS had a strong start and held most of the possession with relentless attacks that allowed Aubrey White to connect the opening goal at the 9th minute mark followed by two consecutive goals by Anne Lee for a 3-0 lead.
Chacha tightened their defensive line and held down SIS throughout most of the second half, but they eventually lost their ground, allowing SIS’ Phoenix Gross to score at the 44th minute mark for a convincing 4-0 victory.
