TO celebrate all the women in the world, the CNMI Women’s Affairs Office, in collaboration with the CNMI Women’s Association, will declare March as CNMI Women’s Month in a proclamation that will be signed today, Wednesday, March 1 at 2:30 at American Memorial Park.
“Considering we’re half the population in the community, or the whole world for that matter, it’s very important to recognize and support all women in the CNMI in all kinds of fields: from entrepreneurship, corporate business, advocacy, and charitable foundations,” CWA Project Director Valentina Rivera, said in an interview.
She believes that women are only “touching the edge of what we’re capable of.”
“It’s all about consistency in the work we do, and to never give up,” she added. “There will be voices out there that say we can’t do it, or even worse, telling ourselves we can’t do it, but the truth is, we can. We truly can make anything work. It’s the act of doing the work that will truly pay off.”
This year’s CNMI Women’s Month theme is “WELLNESS — Women Entrepreneurs Leading Life & Nourishing Economically Sustainable Solutions.”
Valentina said the CWA believes in the importance of women empowering women.
“I believe we do [empower] each other, every single day of our lives. This includes pushing a fellow woman to go for her dreams and to not give up and to strive for happiness,” she added.
“We should also push our own selves to do the work that has to be done,” she said.
“A woman should have the initiative to stand up and do it herself. There are also so many ways that we can do to help one another, so let’s do that not just for Women’s Month in March, but every day, 24/7, 365 days in a year, and onwards. Let’s never give up, and again, consistency is key,” she added.
