April is Environmental Awareness Month; April 22, 2023 is CNMI Earth Day

Governor Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang on Friday proclaimed April 2023 as Environmental Awareness Month with this year’s theme, “Our Islands’ Health is Our Common Wealth.” They also proclaimed  April 22, 2023 as CNMI Earth Day. Joining them at the proclamation signing ceremony at Carolinian Utt in Garapan were Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality Administrator Eli D. Cabrera, Division of Environmental Quality Director Zabrina Mae S. Cruz, BECQ, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 9 Administrator Martha Guzman, Mariana Islands Nature Alliance Executive Director Roberta Guerrero, local dignitaries and other community members. Governor Palacios and Lt. Governor Apatang ask all citizens of the Commonwealth to take an active interest in their environment and help protect it for future generations. They also urge all citizens and organizations of the Commonwealth to observe this month “in recognition of our goal of maintaining a healthy, clean, and beautiful Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.”
