SUFA remain one of the top contenders in the 2023 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball League after collecting their fourth win by besting TuTuRamz, 10-5, on Sunday at the Dandan baseball field.
SUFA highlighted the opening inning with a defensive double play and, at their turn at bat, squeezed in a run contributed by Mario Aguon with an RBI double to grasp the upper hand.
In the third inning, TuTuRamz finally broke the silence led by Gary Bertongini’s RBI single. They bagged another run due to SUFA’s throwing error.
But SUFA notched a solo run aided by Audie Maratita’s double, bringing in Cavani Deleon Guerrero to tie the game, 2-2.
Although TuTuRamz snuck in another run in the top of the fourth inning, SUFA launched a blistering offensive led by Pat Deleon Guerrero who hit a three-run homer followed by Jun Salalila’s two-RBI single while Cavani Deleon Guerrero and Paul Salalila also added one each to the RBI count to regain the lead, 9-3.
TuTuRamz answered with two runs in the top of the fifth inning, but SUFA notched a solo run in the bottom of the sixth while allowing no hits in the seventh and final inning to secure victory, 10-5.
Other games
Hagu La’mun still sit at the top of the ladder after edging the Red Men, 14-13.
The Red Men established control early with five runs in the top of the second inning and six more in the top of the third.
However, Hagu La’mun gradually worked their way back with nine crucial runs in the last three innings to snatch the win.
Momma Charu, for their part, controlled the early game and denied Wazzup a late-game comeback to triumph, 13-12.
