OFFICERS and members of the Rotary Club of Saipan left on Saturday to attend a Rotary International district convention that will be held from Feb. 20 to 23 at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan.
Attending the event are Rotary Club of Saipan President Wendell Posadas, President-elect Irene Holl, Secretary Joann Aquino, Past President Marcia Ayuyu, Past President Sonia Dancoe, Double Past President Glenn Perez, Double Past President Curtis Dancoe, Rotarians Perry Inos Jr. and Wilfredo “Boy” Ching.
In an interview on Friday, Posadas said the Rotary Club of Saipan will be given an opportunity to present its successful projects on Saipan. These include a children’s park in Kagman. Funded by a federal Disaster Recovery Grant, the park is now in its second phase of development.
During in the convention, Posadas said the Rotary Pacific Basin District will likewise discuss district and global grants as well as regional projects.
One of the largest service organizations in the world, Rotary International aims to “provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through [the] fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.”
There are over 46,000 Rotary clubs around the world with a total of 1.4 million members.
