THE TakeCare Youth Soccer League kicked off its spring season on Saturday with the Tan Holdings and Kanoa football clubs off to a strong start after beating their respective opponents at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
THFC collected their first win by outlasting the MP United Football Club, 2-1.
THFC were quick on their feet as they took control of the possession as soon as the match began. Two minutes later, the team caught MPU off guard, leaving Isiah Hossain open for the finish to take the lead, 1-0.
MPU fought back and they started to fill the field with several exchanges. After 10 minutes of action, they were able to turn the tables with Ian Song finding the back of the net to even the score, 1-1.
Both teams unleashed several shot attempts, but it was THFC that seized the momentum thanks to Anthony Bergancia who connected the shot at the 55th minute mark to regain the upper hand, 2-1.
Both teams gave it their all in the second half, but neither could score again which allowed THFC to run away with the win.
Kanoa vs Matansa
The Kanoa Football Club joined the winner’s circle after vanquishing the Matansa Football Club, 7-1.
KNFC dominated the match from start to finish thanks to their variety of options on the offensive end. Tyler Omelau started the run with two straight goals at the 2nd and 6th minute marks which were followed by the team’s third goal courtesy of Sean Gil.
MFC tried to stop the bleeding after Wataru Kadokura scored at the 30th minute mark. Unfortunately, that was their only goal of the day.
KNFC, for their part, continued their dominance with Leland Deleon Guerrero finishing the first half with a goal while Ruben Guerrero, Paul Lizama and Markus Toves contributed a goal each in the second half to add the icing on the cake, 7-1.
