SAIPAN Southern High School’s varsity team continues to climb the ladder in the high school boys division of the IT&E Interscholastic Basketball League after beating Mount Carmel School with a late-game push, 59-46, Thursday last week at the Marianas High School gym.
The first half was an even battle with Elijah Garcia of SSHS scoring 16 points or over half of his team’s output.
But MCS never gave up as Lance Lerio carried the team with 19 points to trail by just one point, 27-28.
Lerio’s skills, however, were no match to SSHS’s firepower as John Raquepo and Rasg Asuo joined Garcia in notching a double-digit deficit en route to victory, 59-46.
MHS V vs SIS V
Marianas High School’s varsity team added another win to their record as they trounced Saipan International School, 52-13.
In the first half, MHS worked well on both ends of the court, allowing SIS only six points while each MHS player showed their value on offense to grab a commanding lead, 30-6.
It was no different in the second half as SIS’s productivity was limited to a single digit while MHS continued to fire at will to seal the deal, 52-13.
SSHS V’s John Raquepo takes the free throw shot during a high school boys division game of the IT&E Interscholastic Basketball League at the MHS gym.
