JSN Construction has secured a spot in the masters division finals of the Legends Sports Association Invitational Basketball League after overpowering Legends Elite, 111-88, Sunday at the Koblerville gym.
It was a fairly even match at first as the opening quarter was filled with lead exchanges.
JSN relied on the inside game and constantly attacked the rim with James Abuy and Bernard Montano at the forefront delivering the buckets including from the charity line. But the Legends Elite caught up thanks to Sonny Ebuen who had a reliable shot from beyond the arc, sinking two triples for a 17-16 lead.
In the second canto, JSN gained momentum with Jun “Shotgun” Tabora and Abuy scoring a combined 15 points as their team seized a six-point lead.
But the Legends Elite continued to fight back and closed the deficit, 64-66, by the end of the third quarter thanks to the consistency of Ebuen who kept his team alive with a total of six three-pointers.
In the final quarter, however, they failed to step up defensively and allowed JSN to gain the distance with Jorge De Guzman finding his rhythm underneath the rim and scoring back-to-back buckets while team mates Tabora and Tim Wesley provided the additional points for a double-digit spread en route to a blowout victory, 111-88.
