IPI security guards receive their salaries

IMPERIAL Pacific International has paid the salaries of its remaining security guards, IPI Human Resource Director Redie Dela Cruz told the Commonwealth Casino Commission during a meeting on Wednesday.

Dela Cruz and IPI Senior Vice President for Public and Media Affairs Tao Xing attended the commission’s monthly meeting and fielded questions from the gaming commissioners.

Dela Cruz also informed the commission that IPI still has a total of 14 employees including seven security guards.

The security guards told Variety that they received their salaries “after lunch on Monday.”

The IPI employees were supposed to receive their salaries on Friday last week, but IPI issued a memorandum informing the employees that payroll would be delayed until further notice.

During the meeting on Wednesday, Commission Chairman Edward C. Deleon Guerrero asked Tao Xing about the current ownership of IPI (CNMI) LLC. Tao Xing responded that Imperial Pacific International Holdings is still the owner, and Cui Lijie is still the majority shareholder.

Tao Xing said Cui Lijie is one of the shareholders who have been trying to raise funds to pay the court judgments, payroll and IPI’s other obligations in the CNMI.

Deleon Guerrero said he doesn’t know if Cui Lijie understands that she is responsible for meeting IPI’s obligations on island.

Tao Xing said since Cui Lijie used to be the chair of IPI International Holdings’ board of directors, he is certain that she understands her responsibilities.
