Man arrested for detaining and kicking girlfriend

ALLAINE John S. Reglos was arrested for kicking and detaining his girlfriend who wanted to break up with him.

Reglos, 27, was charged with domestic violence: assault, assault and battery, disturbing the peace, and false arrest.

He appeared before Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan in the custody of the Department of Corrections on Nov. 3, 2022, for a bail hearing.

Judge Bogdan imposed a $10,000 cash bail on the defendant who was represented by Assistant Public Defender Vina Seelam while Assistant Attorney General Heather Barcinas appeared for the government.

After the hearing, the defendant was remanded to Corrections.

According to the complaint, the victim told police that she was romantically involved with Reglos for a couple of months. She said when she tried to end their relationship, he accused her of cheating on him.

She said Reglos told her to stay in his room, and not go anywhere. He said he would lock her inside his room. He then left.

When he returned, he told her that he was going to kill himself with a kitchen knife unless she handed him her cell phone.

She said she showed Reglos her messages and phone log and when he didn’t see anything he got mad at her.

She said Reglos took her cell phone case and threw it out the balcony and threatened to throw out her cell phone as well.

Reglos then punched the wall and threatened to punch her on the face and strangle her, the victim added.

She said she used her hands to cover her face, but Reglos forcefully grabbed both her hands away from her face, causing her hands to hit a table which caused pain and bruises, the victim added.

She said Reglos then kicked her on the left side of her head, neck and back area.

He also grabbed her cell phone from her and refused to give it back.

When she got up to leave his room, she said Reglos grabbed her purse and pushed her out of his dormitory.

She told police that she was scared and shaking but Reglos just laughed at her.
