Cadets conduct cleanup at Mt. Carmel Cemetery

THE KHS Ayuyu, MHS Dolphin and  SSHS Manta Ray battalions got together with the CNMI Navy Sea Cadets to clean up Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

About 200 cadets attended the early morning activity on Oct. 15, collecting over 200 bags of trash, debris, dead flowers and candles in a span of three hours.

Each year, rain or shine, the cadets prepare the cemetery for All Saints Day and All Souls Day on Nov. 1 and 2.

Also taking part in this year’s cleanup was Mt. Carmel Cathedral Director Doris Sanchez who  provided materials, food and water to the cadets.

In paying tribute to those who have passed away, we as a community can better ourselves by also making sure to dispose of trash and debris properly.

Partnering with community members and local organizations can create meaningful change in our society.
