NMI to host Pacific Island Association of Libraries, Archives, and Museums Conference

(JKPL) — Registration is open for the 31st  Annual Pacific Island Association of Libraries, Archives, and Museums or PIALA Conference titled “Strengthening Connections in the Pacific” which will be held on Dec. 4-7, 2022 in-person on Saipan.

The conference will be hosted by the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, the Northern Marianas Library Association, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services in collaboration with the CNMI Public School System and will be held at the Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan.

The organizers are expecting about 100 attendees from across the Pacific — the CNMI, Guam, Hawaii, the Marshall Islands, Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia (Chuuk, Yap, Kosrae, and Pohnpei), New Zealand, American Samoa and the U.S. mainland.

The 31st Annual PIALA Conference aims to be educational, inspirational and entertaining.

The 31st Annual PIALA Conference will offer eleven presentations and a digital poster session.

The general conference fee is $75 and includes a museum, library, and archive tour, closing dinner and entertainment. The pre-conference fee is $125 and includes an island historic site tour, welcoming dinner, and entertainment.
