AHEC scholars receive stipends

Twenty-nine Northern Marianas College Area Health Education Center or AHEC scholars from the Nursing and Nursing Assistant Program received close to $10,000 in student earned stipends after completing didactic and clinical activities. On top of their regular academic classes, the students participated in distance learning education that focused on emerging healthcare topics. These included interprofessional education, behavioral health integration, social determinants of health, cultural competency, practice transformation, and current and emerging health issues. Such online learning opportunities are due in part through partnerships with the Hawaii/Pacific Basin Area Health Education Center, Hawaii Rural Health ECHO, and the University of Guam – Guam Micronesia Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program.
