(Office of the Governor) — We’re excited to share another month of progress and collaboration across the Commonwealth, including:
• Labor Day 2025 Celebration – On Aug. 31, families and colleagues gathered at the Garapan Fishing Base for a day of entertainment, food, and games honoring our workforce.
• Finance Year-End Closing Policy – The Department of Finance announced its fiscal year-end blackout period from Aug. 31-Sept. 15, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Youth Fishing Workshop & Derby – The Office of Youth Affairs engaged young participants (ages 9–17) in hands-on fishing techniques and a friendly shoreline derby.
• Healthcare Workforce Internships – DOL’s Workforce Investment Agency and CHCC concluded the 2025 Summer Youth Internship Program, with 57 students gaining real-world healthcare experience.
• Arts in the Park Returns – The Commonwealth Council for Arts & Culture revived the beloved community event, highlighting local artistry and cultural heritage at Civic Center Beach Park.
• Maritime Readiness Exercise – HSEM, CPA, and the U.S. Coast Guard held a tabletop exercise to strengthen mass water rescue preparedness and interagency coordination.
Also, upcoming events include the Youth Affairs Afterschool Program, the 10th Annual Field of Heroes and the 2025 Coastal Cleanup.
