Wanted for forgery and theft

(Department of Public Safety) — On Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022, at about 9:43 a.m., DPS received a 911 call reporting a forgery and theft incident. Police were dispatched to meet with the caller.

The caller told police that they were working for the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games or NMPMG committee and reviewing the funds from its bank account when they noticed that a pay-out of $46,027 was made to Patricia Bermudes Aldan. Upon further review, it was found that Aldan was a temporary employee for the NMPMG and was originally given a check for $27 for mileage reimbursement.

The NMPMG committee stated that the original check amount was changed from $27 to $46,027 with two signatures of committee members signed on the forged check without their knowledge.

On the same day, Aug. 2, an arrest warrant was issued for Patricia Bermudes Aldan by Superior Court Judge Joseph N. Camacho.

Police searched for Aldan but were unsuccessful. On  Aug. 3, police were able to confirm that Aldan had fled the island in the afternoon of Aug. 2 on board Jeju Airlines with no written final destination.

This case remains ongoing. If you have any information regarding Aldan’s whereabouts, call 911 or if you wish to remain anonymous, call the CNMI Crime Stoppers hotline at (670) 234-7272. Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for any information leading to an arrest. It pays to call.
