Man Amigos, Queens of Diamonds triumph in softball league

THE Man Amigos and the Queens of Diamonds are still the number one teams in their respective divisions of the Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball League after besting their opponents Sunday at the Dandan baseball field.

The Man Amigos continue to rule the Men’s Division by defeating Takohao in a high-scoring game, 24-17.

Tokahao were first up to bat and made a statement in the opening inning with eight runs. Jeff Cruz ignited the team’s momentum with a triple, earning two RBIs along the way as he brought Clint Quitugua and Mark Villagomez home safely.

The Man Amigos continued to fall further behind as they struggled to get their first out after seven consecutive hits due to a handful of errors which allowed four Tokahao runs to slip by.  Tokahao’s George David then hit a homer for a commanding 8-0 lead

But the Man Amigos managed to turn the tide in the bottom of the first inning.

Pete and Manny Sablan started the onslaught with three RBIs while team mate Bill Camacho connected a two-run homer as their team scored six consecutive runs.

Before Tokahao could snag the third and final out, the Man Amigos snuck in three more runs to seize the lead, 9-8.

Tokahao regained control with three runs made in the top of the second and five in the third, but the Man Amigos answered back with two and six runs to regain the upper hand once again, 17-16.

It was in the bottom of the fifth inning when the Man Amigos secured their victory by outscoring Tokahao, 4-1. The Man Amigos then added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth while preventing Tokahao from scoring to seal the deal, 24-17.

Women’s Division
