ALEX Tudela emerged victorious from a four-way tie to bag the Saipan Golf Association May Ace of the Month title on May 15, 2022 at the Kingfisher Golf Links.
Alex Tudela, Mariano Fajardo, Rick Kautz and Juan Babauta fought for the top spot as they each notched a net score of 70.
Tudela stood out, however, in the playoff score cards which gave him the top prize.
On the front nine, he struggled a bit as he ended with a gross of 42. But on the back nine, he tweaked his swing and tightened his precision to score a gross of 39 for a combined total gross of 81. With a handicap of 11, his net score was 70.
In second place was Mariano Fajardo who shot a gross of 44 on the front nine and 53 on the back nine for a gross total of 97. Thanks to a generous handicap of 27, his net score was 70.
In third place was Rick Kautz who shot a gross of 43 on the front nine and 38 on the back nine for a gross total of 81. His 11 handicap gave him a net score of 70.
And in fourth place was Juan Babauta who had a steady performance with a gross of 42 on the front nine and 42 on the back nine for a gross total of 84. With a handicap of 14, his net score was 70.
Joining the spotlight were the Closest to the Pin winners: Frances Sablan on hole #6; Ed Manibusan on hole #8; Rick Kautz on hole #12; and Juan Babauta on hole #15.
For the Longest Drive, Nick Sablan triumphed on hole #1 while Ed Manibusan reigned on hole #18.
Alex Tudela now joins the other 2022 SGA Aces of the Month: Edward C. Sablan (January), Frances M. Sablan (February), Nick C. Sablan (March), and Larry I. Deleon Guerrero (April).
The SGA June Ace of the Month Tournament is set for July 17, 2022, Sunday at Coral Ocean Resort. Tee time is at 9 a.m. while show time is at 8:30 a.m.
